The nervous system governs everything

— your immune, digestive, and endocrine systems; your muscles, blood vessels, and cells.

An unhealthy nervous system can play a significant role in causing and perpetuating chronic systemic illness and mental health challenges like anxiety and depression.

But when we consistently release stored trauma and re-wire the brain, we restore the nervous system to a healthy baseline where the body can fight infection, heal the gut, balance hormones, healthily regulate inflammation levels, and repair at a cellular level.

"These classes have been so helpful to me and are honestly the best money I’ve spent on my journey to healing!"

Who is this class for?

Those who hold stress in their bodies and want to reduce stress levels, break up tension patterns, and learn to maintain a baseline of relaxation

Those who have experienced trauma and want to release it at a bodily level

Those who are rewiring their brains with a limbic system retraining program and want to supplement with somatic techniques

"Your class today was amazing! I already signed up for the next one. My day was going horribly and your class turned it all around. I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt that relaxed. And for the first time in a long time, I feel like my chronic illnesses don’t have the last word. So appreciative of you pouring your time and love into this! God bless you and the good work you are doing!"

The Class

will guide you through gentle, research-driven practices designed to help you address stress and trauma at a bodily level.

Each class integrates:
  • Somatosensory exercises
  • Polyvagal exercises
  • Gentle movement and breath
  • Mindfulness/Grounding exercises
  • Spiritual formation practices

All classes take place over Zoom. Recordings are available to members of Restore.

"Thank you so much, Sarah, for your beautiful class today! What an amazing experience, wow! I entered the class with neck tension and digestive distress and the exercises helped both of those issues. I was not expecting that! My neck range of motion also increased a lot after the gentle neck exercise you guided us through. I feel so blessed to have been a part of it today. I can’t thank you enough. Looking forward to participating again!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Traumatization is less about what happened to you and more about how your nervous system integrated your experience(s).

Trauma occurs when the nervous system does not effectively integrate a stressful experience or set of experiences.

In a healthy scenario, a person:

  1. Experiences something stressful
  2. Moves through that stress activation
  3. Recovers completely afterward, returning to his or her neurological baseline

Problems arise when the body is not able to properly discharge the energy it generated to mobilize you to deal with threat.

This energy can stay in the body for days, weeks, or even years, and the body gets stuck in survival mode.

This unresolved trauma then shifts the brain into a survival state, which alters your perception of the world and impacts physical health. Signs of unresolved trauma include:

  • Diminished joy and creativity
  • Digestive, endocrine, and immune dysfunction
  • Chronic pain
  • Chronic illness
  • Low energy
  • Memory impairment
  • Sensitivity to EMF’s, food, light, and sound
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Brain fog
  • Paralyzing fears

Yes! So be sure to download Zoom before class. It’s free and simple to download. I recommend coming to class 10-15 minutes earlier to make sure Zoom is working before getting ready for class.

We tend to associate trauma with catastrophe, but even without exposure to catastrophe, there’s a good chance you have some level of trauma held in your body. Almost everyone does.

Beyond obvious traumas like abuse, divorce, death, war, and illness, trauma might look like:

  • Surgery, a car accident, or giving birth

  • Stress in utero — if your mom was sick or experiencing overwhelming stress

  • Chronic stressors and the fast pace of modern life

  • A childhood home that felt unsafe – parents who disliked each other, parental pressure to perform perfectly

  • Trauma inherited epigenetically — if someone in your lineage experienced trauma, you can carry the impact of trauma in your genes

The resources I offer are for everyone who wants to address the effects of stress, chronic conditions, and trauma.

This is not an exercise class; instead, it will guide you through gentle movements and sensory practices designed to help your body discharge stored stress, rewire your brain, and nourish your soul.

All practices can also be adapted for your unique limitations, and most of the exercises can be done from bed.

This class does not address the emotional, spiritual, and mental implications of trauma the way my holistic healing toolkit, RESTORE, does, nor is it a replacement for therapy, coaching, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, neurofeedback, or any other professional medical or mental health care.

Instead, this class is best thought of as an in-home, educational resource to complement to the other work you’re doing.

No, recordings are only available to members of RESTORE.

All classes are non-refundable and non-transferable. My holistic healing toolkit, RESTORE, makes all class recordings available to members.

This practice is best done in comfortable clothes on the floor, although if you need to stay in bed you can modify your practice and participate from bed.

For a floor set up, I recommend laying out an exercise mat or the equivalent (like a blanket) and having a pillow and extra blanket.

For those who need extra support, this work is best done in a firm chair, like a dining room chair.

Try to make your set up as comfortable and cozy as possible!

Yes! This work is somatic, which means I will not guide you to think about your life’s traumas, losses, or stressors. Instead, you’ll learn to connect to your body and environment and signal safety to your survival brain.

Because I believe that what happens to the body deeply impacts the soul — and what happens to the soul deeply impacts the body — I’ve also integrated soul care into these classes, as a complement to the bodywork we do.

Soul care starts when we open ourselves to the work of God, inviting him into our fear, shame, disappointment, worry, bitterness, grief, and despair. Although God has endowed us with power to heal the body and tend the soul, deepest inner restoration comes when we open our hearts to his healing power as a way of participating with him in the healing work he is doing in us.

In this posture of openness to God, we learn to respond to our pain with his compassion, befriend our bodies, renew our minds, and discover the grace and freedom to be human. It is within this context that the nervous system begins the learn the safety of being beloved.

We will open and close each session with a spiritual formation practice rooted in Christian tradition, but I welcome people from all faith, agnostic, or atheist backgrounds to this class. My online community is spiritually diverse, and I am grateful for each and every one of you.
